Detailed Curricululm

Week 1:

  • Skills: Review Scratch basics, intro to game loops
  • Activity: Game On! – Catch the Pizza
  • Outcome: Student codes a simple catch-the-object game where pizzas fall from the sky.

Week 2:

  • Skills: Variables, scoring, win/lose conditions
  • Activity: Score It! – Balloon Pop
  • Outcome: Student builds a balloon-popping game that tracks score.

Week 3:

  • Skills: Conditionals, multi-level design
  • Activity: Level Up – Maze Adventure 2.0
  • Outcome: Student upgrades a maze game with levels, timers, and challenges.

Week 4:

  • Skills: Key controls, collisions, timers
  • Activity: Race Time – Car Chase
  • Outcome: Student codes a racing game where players avoid obstacles and race to the finish.

Week 5:

  • Skills: Logic, branching, text, feedback loops
  • Activity: Quiz Master
  • Outcome: Student creates a quiz game with questions, score tracking, and feedback.

Week 6:

  • Skills: Randomization, hidden items
  • Activity: Treasure Hunt – Part I
  • Outcome: Student starts a treasure hunt game with hidden prizes on the stage.

Week 7:

  • Skills: Broadcasting, multiple sprites, debugging
  • Activity: Treasure Hunt – Part II
  • Outcome: Student completes treasure hunt with clues, scoring, and multiple levels.

Week 8:

  • Skills: Variables, lists, timed events
  • Activity: Pet Simulator
  • Outcome: Student codes a virtual pet that eats, plays, and responds to the player.

Week 9:

  • Skills: Advanced motion, bouncing, scoring
  • Activity: Arcade Builder – Brick Breaker
  • Outcome: Student builds a brick breaker arcade-style game.

Week 10:

  • Skills: Multi-sprite control, scoring, competition
  • Activity: Soccer Showdown
  • Outcome: Student codes a two-player soccer game with goals and scoreboard.

Week 11:

  • Skills: Game planning, storytelling, design thinking
  • Activity: Capstone Project Part I – Original Game Design
  • Outcome: Student begins designing their own original game project.

Week 12:

  • Skills: Debugging, polishing, presentation skills
  • Activity: Capstone Project Part II – Showcase
  • Outcome: Student completes and presents their original game to the class.
